Round 8 of the 2018 AFL Season

Welcome to Round 8 – we start with a Friday night classic, Hawthorn taking on Sydney at the MCG and renew a great rivalry.

Lately the Swans are a team that wins away games and loses home games that they should win, so this game is a tough one to tip given how well Hawthorn have been playing this season. I’ll tip Hawthorn by 15 points.

GWS take on the Eagles who have won their last 6 games, this is a big test for the Eagles as they need to get a big Scalp in the coming weeks. However, I don’t think they’ll get it here, so Giants by 18 points.

The winless Carlton Blue’s take on the struggling Essendon Bombers and this game is a raffle, however I’ll back Essendon as I believe they have the better side.

The Gold Coast Suns take on Melbourne at the GABBA. This promises to be a tricky game for the Demon’s who are expected to win this game, however the Suns will take it up to them that’s for sure!! I’m tipping Melbourne by 12 points.

Port Adelaide who were disappointing last week against the Eagles take on their cross town rivals the Crows in a Showdown. You would expect Port to bounce back with a better performance, but I will stick with the Crows on this game as Port has been a rather inconsistent side this last month. Crows by 21 points.

The Western Bulldogs take on Brisbane at Etihad Stadium in a night game this round.  I really liked the performance and high scoring of the Lions last week so I’m tipping them to win this game. If they pull it off, it will be their 1st for the season, I feel they are young side with great talent and they are going to pull it together soon and this is the perfect game for them. Brisbane by 16 points.

The under siege Fremantle Dockers take on the struggling Saints at OPTUS Stadium and the heat is on the Fremantle coach and their style of play. The Saints unfortunately have been to inconsistent and I can’t see them winning this game away. Fremantle’s Nat Fyfe is certainly leading from the front and he will get his players together to restore the faith from their supporters. Freo by 25 points.

2 games to round off the weekend and we start with the surprise team of the season, North Melbourne taking on the hottest team in the competition, Richmond. Seeing how the Kangaroo’s are going, I can’t see them beating Richmond. Tigers by 22 points.

Last game and it’s the Block Buster at the MCG with the inform Pies taking on the Cats. With Tom Hawkins out through suspension and Geelong’s backline still undermanned I feel Collingwood’s recent form and scoring power can win this encounter which will put them into the Top 8. Pies by 17 points.

Have a great weekend and Happy Mother’s day to all the beautiful Mums.

Regards

Jako.
