Round 8: And we are a third of the season in..

As we pass 1/3 of the Season already Round 8 begins and we head up to Sydney where the Swans take on Essendon at the SCG. I expect the Swans will put in a strong performance, but I think Essendon on the smaller ground and their pace will prevail. Essendon by 17 points.

5 games on Super Saturday! We start in Country Victoria down in Ballarat with the impressive Western Bulldogs taking on the young Brisbane Lions in what’s shaping to be an exciting contest. However, playing this game in Ballarat might be a little foreign for the Lions? I’m tipping the Bulldogs by 25 points.

Over to the MCG and it’s one of the form sides currently in the competition taking on Carlton who were very disappointing last week, so Collingwood to win comfortably in this contest.

Next, we go up to Metricon Stadium where the Gold Coast Suns take on Melbourne. With the Demons turning the corner last week with their gutsy win at the MCG, I’m going to tip Melbourne to win by 21 points.

At MRVL Stadium we see St ‘Kilda take on the West Coast Eagles in what will be a close fought contest. If the Eagles play like they did in the 1st half last week then I feel they can win this game by 15 points, however they will need to do it for 4 quarters against one of the improving sides of this season so far. Eagles for the win.

Last we go over to Adelaide for the showdown and it’s Port taking on the Crows, if their recent history is to repeat then this will be an epic contest!! Port Adelaide are missing a few key players so I’m going to pick the Crows to win by 10 points.

3 games on Sunday, we start with North Melbourne taking on Geelong at MRVL Stadium – with Gary Ablett cleared to play it’s hard to see North beating the best team in the competition currently. Cats by 27 points.

Hawthorn take on the GWS Giants at the MCG and whilst the Hawks play spirited football and are always in the contest, it’s the elite skill level and running power of the Giants that will be too good. GWS by 25 points.

Last game of the round and it’s in Perth at Optus Stadium where the Fremantle Dockers take on Richmond in what will be a hard fought contest. Both sides play a very contested brand of Football, so I’m tipping the Tigers to win as they have the ability to score more frequently than the Dockers. Richmond by 22 points.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the Footy.
