Round 7 of the 2018 AFL Season

We kick off Round 7 with a Friday night heavy weight clash down in Geelong, it’s the Cats taking on the Giants in what promises to be a very physical encounter.

With the possibility of Gary Ablett back for Geelong and a few key players back for the Giants, this will be a ‘must watch’ game. I’m tipping the Giants because of their elite midfield while Geelong’s backline is vulnerable, so GWS by 21 points.

5 Games on Super Saturday, starting with the Western Bulldogs taking on the Gold Coast Sun’s at Mars Oval in Ballarat – giving the country people the opportunity to see an AFL game live. I’m going to tip the Gold Coast Suns in a bit of an upset as the Bulldogs have been hit with a few injuries to key players including their Captain Easton Wood. Suns by 15 points.

Essendon take on the Hawks at the MCG in a game where the Bombers need to perform better than what they have displayed in the last 2 weeks. So, on that note I’m tipping the Hawks by 18 points.

The West Coast Eagles who have won their last 5 games in a row take on Port Adelaide at Optus Stadium. This promises to be a cracking game and a replay of that epic final last year that no doubt Port will want to reverse. This is very much a danger game for the Eagles after the big emotional week from the lead up to the Derby and usually both teams struggle the week after such a bruising encounter. However, the Eagles are playing very good balanced footy and should get the job done on their home ground. West Coast by 19 points.

Sydney take on the Kangaroo’s at the SCG and after their emphatic win last week in Geelong without their Super Star Buddy Franklin who will miss again, it’s hard to tip against this resilient side so Swans by 28 points.

The Adelaide Crows take on the winless Carlton at home in Adelaide, it’s hard to make a case for the Blues so Adelaide to win by 30 plus points for me.

3 games on Sunday to close round 7 and we start with the red-hot Tigers taking on Fremantle at the MCG. With Michael Walters on the side lines and no Brad Hill back yet I’m tipping the Tigers to win comfortably this game. Richmond by 30 plus points.

St’ Kilda take on Melbourne at Etihad Stadium and whilst the Saints have been better in their last 2 games they are just not convincing enough to tip them, so Melbourne to win by 22 points.

Last game of the round and it’s up at the GABBA in Brisbane. The winless Lions take on Collingwood which is a tricky game for the Pies, however their recent form and good work should get them the 4 premiership points for this game. Pies by 23 points.

Have a great weekend!
