Round 6: ANZAC round

We start round 6 with one of the most iconic and important weeks on the Australian calendar as we stop, pause, reflect and remember our Anzac’s. The AFL continue the great tradition in acknowledging the Anzac’s through football around the Country.

We follow on from the Easter break on Wednesday at the MCG with Richmond taking on the Struggling Demon’s, from what I’ve watched this year Melbourne will struggle to make the top 8 in 2019. Richmond to win by 28 points.

On Thursday morning,  we pause to remember and honor those who gave their lives in service to their country.  As the sun rises we will remember the Anzac soldiers who rowed to the shores of Gallipoli on April 25, 1915.

Game two on Thursday is the traditional Anzac block buster at the MCG with Essendon taking on Collingwood in what promises to be a great game. I’m tipping the Collingwood’s midfield to have a day out and the Pies get up by 17 points.

Friday night footy and we are in Adelaide as the impressive Port Power take on bottom of the Ladder Kangaroo’s – so Port to win by 32 plus points.

Four games on Saturday starting with the QLD Derby and the Gold Coast Suns take on the Brisbane Lions at Metricon Stadium.  Both teams are coming off some poor loses in recent weeks so I’m going to tip Brisbane as I think they have a little more experience and more players than the Suns that can kick them a winning score. Lions by 21 points.

Then we go to MRVL Stadium and it’s the hot Saint’s taking on the Adelaide Crow’s.  Whilst Adelaide was impressive last game, I always try and stay with the form side and the Saints are in good form.  They are hungry for the contest so St’ Kilda to win by 15 points.

Next we head up to Sydney and it’s the Swans taking on the GWS Giants at the SCG in the Sydney Derby. This will be a tight game however I believe the Giants skill level and pace will run over the top of the Swans and win by 25 points.

Over to Perth and it’s the Len Hall Anzac Tribute Game that the Fremantle FC do so well!  Fremantle take on the Western Bulldogs who have been disappointing in recent weeks , and with champion David Mundy’s 300th Club game for the Dockers and their impressive win last week, I’m tipping the Dockers to win by 30 plus points.

Two Games on Sunday to round off the Anzac week of games and it’s Hawthorn taking on Carlton down in Tasmania.  The Hawks have a very good record in Launceston so I’m tipping the Hawks to continue their form down there. Hawks by 19 points.

Last game of the round and it’s the Top of the Ladder Cats taking on the Eagles at GMHBA Stadium.  The Eagles looked very flat and vulnerable last week and with no Barrass for some time, I think the Cats can win this game even after a 6 day break. Geelong by 16 points.
