Round 4: Saturday is Derby Day

Round 4 and we start again on a Thursday night in Sydney at the SCG with the Swans taking on the winless Melbourne Demons. I think Melbourne woe’s will continue so Swans by 19 points and Buddy to kick a bag!!

Friday night footy is back at the MCG with Collingwood up against the impressive Bulldogs. This promises to be a tough contest and I’m going to tip Collingwood to bounce back with their Midfield back to their brilliant best. Pies by 15 points.

5 Games on Super Saturday starting down in Geelong with the match of the round, the Geelong Cats taking on the GWS Giants. Both teams are in good form so expect a free flowing high scoring game. Cats by 9 points in a thriller.

Back to the MCG and its Essendon taking on the undefeated Brisbane Lions who are a side on the up. However, I liked Essendon’s run and carry last week as well as their fast ball movement into their forward line. Bombers by 26 points.

Port Adelaide take on Richmond who are missing a lot of their key players, so I’m tipping Port to continue Richmond’s slide and win by 24 points.

The Winless North Melbourne take on the Adelaide Crows at MRVL Stadium, Both these teams haven’t started the season with any real form, but I’m tipping Adelaide as they are a better team on paper. Crows by 17 points.

Saturday night footy takes us to Perth for Derby 49. It’s the West Coast Eagles taking on the Fremantle Dockers who look like being without their Captain, Nat Fyfe due to a concussion injury. Whilst I’ve liked the Dockers game style at times this season, I just can’t see them beating the Eagles who with Gaff and Cripps back and that dangerous forward line of Darling, Kennedy, Allen & Ryan, its going to be a big ask for Fremantle. West Coast by 32 plus points.

2 games on Sunday to complete the round and it’s the impressive Gold Coast Suns taking on Carlton at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast. I’ve admired the the way the Suns play basic direct football and their skills have been impressive to watch. Alex Sexton up on forward is a key target for them to kick a winning score, so Suns by 18 points.

Last game of the round, St ‘Kilda up against the Hawks at MRVL Stadium and whilst the Saints have been better this season, the Hawks with Chad Wingard and Tom Scully making impressive debuts it’s hard to tip against. Hawks by 21 points.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the footy.

Regards
Jako.
