Round 23: Final round of footy for 2019

We start Round 23, the final round of the 2019 AFL Footy Season!  Now it all comes down to who can secure a finals position and more importantly, a double chance with a home final that will give their team the best shot for success in September.

Friday night footy at the MCG and it’s going to be a block buster with Collingwood taking on Essendon in what promises to be a very physical game. Both teams are back to showing some good form at the right time of the year, however I feel Collingwood have more goal scoring power and can win this game by 21 points.

5 games on Super Saturday starting up at the SCG and it’s the Sydney Swans who have had a solid month, taking on St Kilda. Whilst both teams are not in the finals, they are both showing their fans that 2020 could be their year for rapid improvement. Swans to win at home in Buddys 300thgame by 18 points.

North Melbourne take on Melbourne in Tasmania and not a lot to like about Melbourne this season, I think the Kangaroo’s harder players around the ball will win it and win it convincingly by 30 plus points.

The Gold Coast Suns take on the GWS Giants at Metricon Stadium.  Both teams haven’t been impressive in recent weeks, but the underachieving Giants will win and win well.

We go over to the West and it’s the Eagles taking on Hawthorn at Optus Stadium. The Hawks are still in contention for finals footy, so this will be an interesting game as West Coast still need to lock in a top 4 position. West Coast to win, however they will need to be fully prepared for a determined Hawthorn side.

3 games on Sunday to finish off the home and away season and we start with the red hot Western Bulldogs taking on the under-performing Adelaide Crows in Ballarat.  I’m picking the form side here in the Bulldogs who could do some damage come Finals time. Bulldogs by 26 points.

Another Block Buster at the MCG and it’s Richmond taking on the top of the ladder Brisbane Lions in what will be an exciting game. Everyone is waiting for the young Lions to faulter, however they just keep on winning!! I’m going to wait another week and tip Richmond as it’s on their home ground.  However, if the Lions cause an upset here then Brisbane can genuinely win the flag. Richmond by 20 points.

Last game of the round and it’s the under performing Port Adelaide Power taking on the Fremantle Dockers who’ve had a controversial week with the sacking of their coach and CEO. Emotionally the Dockers players look shot and will have a massive task to get up against Port away. Port to win by 30 plus points.

Have a great weekend and enjoy another exciting round of Footy.
