Round 2: A home game for the Eagles

Round 2 and Thursday’s night footy is back at the MCG. It will be a replay of last years preliminary final with Richmond taking on Collingwood in what will be a classic encounter. The Tigers will sorely miss Alex Rance after that tragic knee injury last week so I’m tipping Collingwood to win this game by 21 points. I feel Collingwood have too much pace for Richmond and more goal scoring options.
Friday night footy takes us up to the SCG with the Swans taking on the Adelaide Crows. Both teams were very disappointing in round 1 and will want to put in a better performance this week. I’m going to tip the Swans at home in a low scoring game by 10 points.
4 games on super Saturday starting at MRVL stadium. With the MRVL in pretty poor condition it’s a real concern for player safety, however back to the game and it’s Essendon who were very disappointing last week taking on the Saints who just got over the Gold Coast Suns in a thriller. Both teams didn’t impress me too much and with so much pressure on John Worsfold and his team, I’m tipping the Bombers to bounce back and win by 12 points.
Port Adelaide take on Carlton at Adelaide Oval. The Power made the bigger statement in Round 1 that I’ve seen a side do in a number of years, they really look like a team hungry for success and won’t lose to many games in Adelaide this year. Port by 30 plus points.
The youthful and exciting Cats are to take on Melbourne in Geelong. I was really disappointed in the efforts of Melbourne last week who lacked commitment at the contest which was a feature of their game last year! Geelong to win at home by 17 points.
Saturday night footy and it’s over to Perth at OPTUS Stadium where the WCE take on the impressive GWS Giants. It’s a special home game for the Eagles Club & fans with unfurling of their Premiership Flag, Shannon Hurn’s 250th game and Josh Kennedy’s 200th, so with this in mind they will want to put in a far better performance than they did last week. I’m tipping the Eagles but only just, West Coast by 14 points.

3 games on Sunday to complete round 2 and we are back at MRVL Stadium where the Kangaroo’s take on Brisbane in what promises to be a tight contest. I’m going to tip the Lions as they have a really exciting group of players that are coming together nicely under Chris Fagan. Lions by 24 points.

The in-form Hawks, even without Tom Mitchell take on the Western Bulldogs at the MCG. Both of the teams played really well 1st up, however I just like Hawthorns all round game so I’m tipping them to win by 18 points.
Last game of the round and it’s all the way up to Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast with the Suns taking on the high scoring Fremantle Dockers. They combination of Freo’s Fyfe and Mundy in the centre means they have too much experience for the Suns plus with their forward line firing, I’m going to tip Freo for a comfortable win by 25 points.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the Footy’s back!!
