Round 16: Western Derby number 50

We start Round 16 on Friday night at the MCG, Hawthorn take on Collingwood in a must win game for both sides as their recent form has been pretty poor. I’m tipping Collingwood to work through there form slump with the lead from Ruckman Brodie Grundy and their elite midfield to get them back playing the football we witnessed at the start of the year. Pies by 21points.

4 games on Super Saturday, we start at the MCG where Essendon off a great come from behind win last week, take on the Sydney Swans who have also found some form in recent weeks! This will be a great contest and I’m tipping Essendon to build on from last weeks spirited win. Bombers by 11 points.

Gold Coast take on Richmond at Metricon Stadium and whilst the Suns have been better this season they fade badly late in games, so Tigers to win by 30 plus points.

We go over to Adelaide where it’s the Showdown with the Crows taking on an inconsistent Port Adelaide side that has come under an enormous amount of criticism in recent weeks …so expect fireworks between these 2 sides. I’m tipping the Crows as their form is better than Ports currently.

The Western Bulldogs take on Geelong at MRVL Stadium in what should be a great contest as the Bulldogs are building a better brand of football in the back half of the season. I’ll still pick the Cats but only just by 9 points.

Over to Perth and it’s Derby 50 with the Fremantle Dockers taking on the WCE at Optus Stadium. Freo have dropped 2 games in a row that they should’ve won and now find themselves on the edge of the top 8. West Coast off a win last week with Nic Naitanui back look to have to many forward options to kick a winning score than Fremantle – so I’m tipping the Eagles to make it 9 Derby wins in a row.

3 games on Sunday and we start at the MCG with Carlton taking on Melbourne. I was impressed with Carlton’s come from behind win last week without super star Patrick Cripps, and with Melbourne so hot and cold this year I’m tipping the blues to win 2 in a row.

We go down to Hobart and the inform tough Kangaroos take on St’ Kilda who are really struggling to put 4 quarters together and a lot of uncertainty with their coach Alan Richardson. North to win by 24 points.

Last game of the round and we go up to Sydney where the GWS Giants take on the inform Brisbane Lions. A tough game to tip as the Lions are one of the form teams of the competition currently, I’ll go the home ground advantage and pick the Giants by 16 points.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the footy.

Jako.
