Round 16 of the 2018 AFL Season

We start Round 16 again on a Thursday night and this week it’s a Block Buster with the Sydney Swans taking on the Geelong Cats at the SCG.

Both teams are coming off a loss last week and both need to win games in the coming weeks to secure their position in the top 8. The Swans Backline is one of the best in the league and I feel they will be as tight as ever to get this win over the line. Swans by 14 points.

Friday night footy at the MCG and it’s a Grand Final replay of the Tigers vs the Crows. With the current form of Richmond and their unbeaten record at the MCG, I can’t see the crows pulling an upset here. Richmond by 30 plus points.

4 games on Saturday starting up at the GABBA and it’s the Brisbane Lions taking on the struggling Carlton Blues. I really liked the team performance by Brisbane last week against the Dockers and with their confidence up, they will get the win here for 2 in a row. Brisbane by 21 points.

Port Adelaide take on St’ Kilda at Adelaide Oval, and whilst the Saints had a good win last week they play a much more formidable side, the Power at home this week. Port by 25 points.

The recently improved Western Bulldogs take on Hawthorn at Etihad Stadium in what promises to be a tight contest. Hard to tip here but I’m leaning Hawthorn’s way as their midfield is better than the Dogs. Hawks by 9 points.

Melbourne take on the Dockers at the MCG and with Fremantle not having Sandilands & Fyfe playing due to injury, I’m tipping Melbourne to bounce back and win at home by 30 plus points.

3 games on Sunday starting with the Kangaroos taking on the Gold Coast Suns at Etihad Stadium. The Suns are really struggling as a team so North to win by 30 plus points.

Massive game at the MCG, Essendon who have hit some form in recent weeks take on the hot Pies – this is going to be a close game. I’m tipping a bit of an upset here with the Bombers to get over the line by 14 points. They have a forward line that can score goals quickly.

Last game of the round is in Perth and West Coast take on GWS in a very important game for both sides. Whilst West Coast have lost their last 3 games I felt last week they showed the type of form that had them win 10 games in a row. West Coast by 7 points.

Have a great weekend.

Cheers
