Round 20 of the 2018 AFL Season

We start Round 20 with one of the most anticipated weeks of footy of the season with so much on the line for up to 10 teams – it’s the tightest season in history!!

Friday night’s footy block buster is at the MCG and it’s the ruthless Tigers taking on Geelong who have yet to secure their top 8 position.  As much as Geelong will be up for this contest, I can’t see them matching the around the contest pressure for 4 quarters against the Tigers.  Richmond to win by 25 points.
5 games on super Saturday and we start with another block buster at the MCG with the Hawks who recently made the 8 take on Essendon who have won 6 from their last 7 games and are 1 game and percentage out of the top 8. These 2 teams don’t like each other and it will be on from the 1st bounce. However, I feel Essendon’s pace and momentum, and the fact the Hawks had a big road trip to Perth last week may have Essendon in the box seat to win this game by 15 points.
Brisbane take on North Melbourne up at the GABBA in another very interesting game.  The much improved Lions are finishing the season well are up against the Kangaroo’s who are still in a good position to make the top 8.  I’m going to tip North by 8 points because I feel they have more scoring options up forward and they play the smaller ground better than most.
Show Down in Adelaide …..and it’s the Crows taking on the Power in another game where cross team rivals are fighting to secure a position in the top 8.  Tough one to tip, however I’m going for Adelaide in another thrilling contest like their last game and a win by less than a goal.

St Kilda take on the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium and whilst both teams are out of the race for a top 8 position they are both wanting to show their supporters and the footy world that 2019 will be something to look forward to.  I’m tipping the Saints by 17 points as I feel their recent form has been better than the Bulldogs.
Massive game up at the SCG and it’s the struggling Swans taking on the injury depleted Pies in what will be another great contest. I’m tipping the Swans to answer their critic’s and bounce back with a win on their home ground. Swans by 19 points.
3 games on Sunday and it’s Carlton taking on GWS at Etihad Stadium.  Whilst the Blues had a good win last week, I can’t see them causing a massive upset here in beating the Giants who are starting to get their best team on the park of recent weeks resulting in consistent wins. GWS by 30 plus points.
Melbourne take on the Gold Coast Suns at the MCG.  With the Demons great win away in Adelaide last week, and  an opportunity to secure their 1st finals appearance since 2006, I feel Melbourne have what it takes now and will win this game by 30 plus points.
Last game of R20 and its Western Derby #48 in Perth, West Coast hosting the Fremantle Dockers in what will be a very interesting game!  Fremantle are not at full strength but will be determined to cause West Coast some pain in their quest for a top 2 finish. The Eagles were disappointing with last week’s loss to the Kangaroo’s and will want to bounce back to show they are still major contenders this year.  West Coast will win as they have to much class in all lines across the ground and whilst it will be tight for most of the game expect West Coast to run away with a 24 point win.
Have a great weekend!
